Alex Hitz was born on May 16, 1893 in Washington D.C. He graduated from Georgetown's School of Law in 1915. Hitz served in the U.S. Army between 1918 and 1919 and was an active member of the Reserves Corps thereafter. Alex Hitz and Elizabeth Crawford were married in June of 1920.
